Faith

Continuing the trend set by Seventeen Seconds, Faith is an even darker affair. Smith sings with suicidal resignation through eight somber epics of gloom typified by the title track and "The Funeral Party," raising the funeral march tempo only for the single "Primary." The atmosphere created is chilling, though very few of the songs stand out. That's probably not the point anyway -- as a mood-setting piece, Faith is quite effective.
