The British group first got together in 1976, when they were schoolmates known as Easy Cure! Lead singer and guitarist Robert joined the lineup in 1978, and The Cure released its first single. The bands’ often gloomy sound went out of fashion in the early 1980’s, and The Cure took a break. But fortunately for the band’s fans, the mysterious quintet made a strong comeback with albums like Japanese Whispers and a slightly revamped (but still bizarre) sound.
